Tawanna L. Moore is a Christian Playwright, Director & Actress. She’s making her authorial debut with the self-exploration journal / book entitled “The ME Choice”. Moore first turned to writing as a means of enduring her own rocky existence and hopes her words will in turn “touch one person’s heart or change one person’s life.” Then, she said, “my work is well done, and my living is not in vain”.” I always knew I was going to be a writer,” Moore said. “Through middle school, high school, there was nothing else I wanted to be.” When Moore was two years old, her mother, Patricia Moore, died. Moore and her sister, Tabitha, lived together with their father and later his new wife unbeknownst to him, Moore describes as “very abusive mentally and physically.” Those experiences, she said, “prompted my creativity because my imagination was always a way-out of the situation. “Moore recalled as a child how she and her sister would “take road trips to dreamland” on which they ventured to places like “Toyland,” and “Candyland”, “Tabitha and I were there for each other and we used anything to get away from the situation we were in,” she said. At 6, she drew a tear on a piece of paper and composed the title “The Tears of My Six Years.”” By: Tawanna Moore” Moore said she thinks she knew way back then she was a writer. Two years later never learning of the abuse, her father Blakie Moore died, and the two siblings faced numerous years of custody battles, rotating through the homes of various family members as far away as her grandmother the late Betty Joyner of North Carolina before settling in with her grandfather the late Reverend Harry “Papo” Gilton, back in Louisiana and was ultimately raised by her mother’s sister and best friend the late Helen Moton.

 

Moore is a 45-year-old Louisiana native, divorcee and single mother of two. Moore studied Theatre Education at Grambling State University. She's currently a 7th grade teacher at Labadieville Middle School. In her pastime she loves to read Harlequin novels, always the hopeless romantic. Her aspiration includes becoming a bestselling novelist and ultimately making her debut as a screen script writer, director and actress. Moore is also hopeful that her latest book venture will thrust her back into one of her first loves motivational speaking. Moore knows something about love, tragedy and faith, themes that run deep in her life experiences, books, and plays. The playwright of titles such as “Who’s Gonna Marry the Preacher?”, Moore’s first play, written while studying theatre education at Grambling State University “You Can’t Tell ‘Em Everything”, “What Makes a Good Woman and a Good Man Go Bad”, “It’s a Family Affair”, “Growing Pains”, “If College Walls could TALK”, “Biting the Hand that Feeds you” and “Just the 2 of US”. Her debut  “The book is "The ME Choice”
